Trados Live is a new innovative cloud application for translation translators from RWS (former SDL). It is currently part of the package, with the purchase of the SDL Trados Studio 2021 desktop application, and allows you to connect and collaborate with this most widely used translation-enabled tool. Trados Live is designed to optimize the translation and localization workflow and allows flexible switching between different platforms. The translator can thus work on the translation on a desktop computer and smoothly go through, e.g. on a tablet while traveling, or working on your favorite MacBook. This allows him to work more efficiently and easily. Trados Live is available in several editions:
Trados Live Essential Freelance – the basic version supplied with the SDL Trados Studio Freelance program, which allows a freelance translator to flexibly move from the Studio desktop application to the Trados Live cloud solution without having to create a new project.
Trados Live Essential Professional – the version shipped with SDL Trados Studio Professional, which includes all the features of the Trados Live Essential Freelance version, but has a subscription 10 times more words than the Freelance version (30 million words) and unlike the Freelance version (3 languages on translation project) has an unlimited number of languages for the translation project.
Trados Live Team – a version enabling collaborative teamwork on the cloud, sharing translation resources, assigning and managing projects implemented by external translators.
The first training in using SDL Trados Live
On April 9, 2021, we conducted the first commercial training of the SDL Trados LIVE application for FullWood Packo. The company internally translates technical documentation and marketing materials and for this purpose received access to the CAT cloud solution from SDL, SDL Trados LIVE, from the parent company. This new application allows the translation project manager to have full control over the translations and also provides the Trados LIVE online editor for translators. If necessary, translators can also work in the SDL Trados Studio desktop application environment. In this case, the translation projects are still synchronized between the cloud and the desktop application. In this way, translators can work on one translation at a time, share translation memories and terminology databases, and can work on any device with a browser. So they can also work on Apple McBook devices or in the environment of OS Android or iOS. Given RWS ‘market power, there is a high expectation that SDL Trados LIVE will become the new standard in the cloud CAT market.
